Which Tickets?????
That question is a bit like the old chestnut "How long is a piece if string?" I wish I could give a simple answer but I can't. There are so many things to take info consideration
- How Long are you staying in Orlando?
- Are there mixed ages in your party - will you stay together or split up??
- How fit are you?
How Long have you got?
US Visitors stay in town a few days, UK visitors much longer. I usually suggest one "free day" for every 3 or 4 theme park days. This could be a spot of shopping, lazing by the pool, visiting a water park or just sleeping in! Theme park days can be exhausting- you need some kick back time or you'll need a vacation to recover from your vacation.
Here are some of the major theme parks with a suggested time needed.
| Walt Disney World | |
| Magic Kingdom | At least 1 day (- better to have 2) |
| Epcot | At least 1 day (- better to have 2) |
| Hollywood (formerly MGM) Studios | 1 day |
| Animal Kingdom | 1day |
| Universal Orlando | |
| Universal Studios | 1 day (- better to have 2) |
| Inlands of Adventure | 1 (- better to have 2) |
| Other Orlando Attraction | |
| Sea World | 1 day |
| Busch Gardens (Tampa) | 1 day |
| Kennedy Space Centre | 1 day |
It doesn't take a math wizard to work out that you can't do everything. Some things have got to be missed this year.
Are there Mixed Ages in your party? - will you stay together?
Little ones will love the twirling Tea Cups at Magic Kingdom. Teens not so much. Gran will hate the Hulk at Islands of Adventure but young adults will want to ride twice! There's something for everybody but probably not the same somethings. If you plan to stay together you will probably go slower than you think. If you split up make sure everyone knows a place to get back together again. Disney in particular is very safe for older children to go and do their own thing - let them ride Tower of Terror ten times while you take the young ones to something more suitable.
How fit are you?
Theme Park touring is hard work. Florida is hot and the humidity can be crushing. Build some time into your day to rest your feet and cool off. Don't try to do too much. You'll enjoy everything so much more if you go slower. Disney is very wheel chair accessible - so don't be proud. Hire a chair if you need one. Some parents get their kids in shape before hand - many car bound youngsters are simply not used to walking so much!
